As witnessed with the events in Japan a few weeks ago, we can’t predict when or where the next big earthquake or natural disaster will hit, but we can take steps to make sure we are prepared. The best time to start thinking about what to do in case of emergency is BEFORE it happens. A basic emergency starter kit should include the following: - Water for 3-10 days (1 gallon per person per day)
- Food for 3-10 days(including pet food)
- First Aid Kit and Instructions
- Flashlights (and extra batteries)
- Radio (and extra batteries)
- Medications(prescription and non-prescription)
- Cash and important documents(small bills and coins, birth certificates, medical cards)
- Clothing and sturdy shoes
- Tools (wrench, duct tape, fire extinguisher, sturdy gloves, whistle)
- Sanitation and hygiene supplies.
